Ex-PRESS Shunt – Glaucoma Surgery

The Ex-PRESS™ mini glaucoma shunt provides a simple filtration method for glaucoma patients.
The shunt has been available in the United States since 2002 with over 12,000 implantations performed all over the world.
Fluid is diverted to the outside of the eye through an extremely small tube the size smaller than a grain of rice. It is very similar to a heart stent. The shunt gets implanted in the flap in the sclera where it effectively controls the intraocular pressure with a success rate of 94%. The procedure can be done following cataract surgery.
